Ape Genius

This is by far, one of my favourite documentaries ever. R taped this on PBS. You can watch clips of it online here:

Nova: Ape Genius

However, if you're outside the US, you can't watch it. The screen that came up when I tried to watch a clip might as well have said "SUCKER!!!" in scrolling neon lights. Such a tease.

Anyways, there is this one clip where they put a peanut in the bottom of a long tube and attached it to a monkey's cage. He tried to get the peanut out but he couldn't reach it with his fingers. What to do? What to do?

Found the clip on YouTube:: here :: (ha!)

I remember being in an enrichment class when I was 9 or 10. They gave us a brain teaser about how to get a tennis ball out of a really deep hole and I was the one that came up with the answer. I didn't remember that crowning moment in my life until after I saw that clip.

I'm not a genius, but at least I have the satisfaction of know that at the age of 10 I was as smart as a monkey. I suspect I reached my intellectual peak a little too early in life. I definitely could use some of that nowadays.
