Why you won't be getting a Christmas card from me

Reason 1

I have been thinking and planning about Christmas since July and it still managed to sneak up on me. Of course all of my crafting and shopping plans were thrown out the window the minute we took Nori home. It's impossible to do anything. You just want to stop everything so you can watch her constantly.

Nori went to puppy daycare last week and by Thursday, she was leaking day-glo green goop out of her left eye. FUCK. The vet assured me it was nothing to be worried about so Risto and I left Nori with my folks and we took off for the weekend.

Reason 2

We had prebooked our annual trip to Tremblant for some relaxation and snowboarding. I decided to take the relaxation aspect to it's ultimate extreme and NOT stress myself out trying to stay upright on a snowboard. So I basically ate, slept and knitted.

Mel kept me updated on Nori's antics throughout the weekend.

1. She was able to undo a knot in some rope she was tied to and escaped. Twice.

2. My dad made up this game where he chased her around the backyard making noises never before heard in the animal kingdom. "KOO KOO KOOOOO KOOOOOOO" I'm sure their neighbours enjoyed that one.

3. She's afraid of my mom.

4. She pooped in the dining room.

5. She's really afraid of my mom.

6. My cousins finally met her and they adore her. She seems to be getting used to kids and people fawning over her, which is excellent.

Ever since we've been back, Nori's eye has gotten worse and she spends most of the time goobering and blowing snot bubbles out of her nose. A trip to the vet later, she's got eye drops and pills twice a day. Poor girl.

However, she did manage to pee a heart-shaped pee stain on the carpet in my coworker's cubicle. HEART SHAPED.

Reason 3 & 4

I finished my second and final Christmas concert for the season. It wasn't without it's glitches but it was a lot of fun overall. The kids were adorable and everybody seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.... except for this one dad; who's son was singing a solo. Mel and I thought he was going to give himself a heart attack from nerves.

Risto has been a sick puppy himself the last two weeks and blowing his own snot bubbles. Despite that, he did manage to do this - just because I didn't think he could:

I should know better than to doubt the man.

Reason 5

I was reading an article in the Star about saving money. The advice is simple. In order to save money, you can't spend it.

Oh.

How pithy. Not that I have had the time to go shopping anyways.

Well, I do hope that everybody has a happy and safe holiday!!
See you in the new year!
